
Michael Blakey
A solicitor since 1969, Michael joined Barr Ellison in 1972 dealing with high level property transactions from the outset. Michael became Senior Partner in 1995.
Michael deals with a wide spectrum of commercial clients and has a large number of these in specialist sectors, such as doctors, dentists, vets, farmers, property landlords, small property developers, restaurateurs and shop-keepers.
Over the years, Michael has dealt with many large and small scale developments, assisting clients in all aspects from property acquisition, planning agreements and infrastructure issues, through to the ultimate onward sales.
Michael has dealt with the acquisition of sites for supermarkets in the west country and other large developments though to smaller sites in local villages such as Thriplow, Milton, Waterbeach, Girton, Histon and Impington, giving him wide ranging local knowledge.
Michael is a director of the Cambridgeshire Cottage Housing Society Limited. He is also a trustee of Hobson’s Conduit Trust, and a member of the finance committee of the Cambridge Preservation Society. Michael is Vice Chairman of Impington Parochial Church Council of which he has been a member for more than 25 years.
Michael has been President of the Cambridge Business and Professional Club on two occasions, and remains on the management committee to this day. He has been a member of a local Rotary club in excess of 25 years serving as secretary over a considerable period and tenure as President for one year. Michael is also a member of 41 Club, having served as Chairman in the past, prior to which he was a member of the Round Table having served as Chairman and as Secretary for a few years.
